A timber home near Hervey Bay was extensively damaged by fire on Wednesday, and one person assessed by paramedics after a passer-by raised the alarm.

Multiple emergency services converged on the site on Maddever Road at Booral, between Hervey Bay and River Heads about 10am where the blaze was “well involved” after reportedly starting in the kitchen.

A Queensland Fire Department spokesperson said all people inside the home at the time the fire broke out were accounted for.

A passer-by raised the alarm when they saw smoke coming from the house and pulled into driveway to tell the owner, who was outside in the shed.

A spokeswoman from the Queensland Ambulance Service said one person had been assessed by paramedics, cleared of any injuries and not needed to be taken to hospital.

This occurred after multiple crews were called to a property on George St on Monday, near its intersection with Alice St and just north of Pialba State School, also about 10am.

A QFD spokesperson said that fire appeared to have started in a bedroom on the top floor of the two-storey apartment. Neighbouring apartments were evacuated and two people taken to hospital with smoke inhalation.
