A police officer was forced to use capsicum spray on a couple and their dog when he was attacked while trying to arrest a man on a warrant.
The woman involved in the incident, Laura Jayne Trebilcock, pleaded guilty to obstructing police when she faced Hervey Bay Magistrates Court.
The court heard the officer went to a Maryborough home on November 29 to talk to a man wanted on a warrant.
When Trebilcock opened the door, she became verbally abusive towards the officer and refused him entry into the house.
The officer warned that if he wasn’t allowed entry, he would use force.
She yelled at the officer, a man approached and the officer pushed the man away to put space between them.
The woman then released a medium sized dog on the officer who was forced to use capsicum to subdue it and the man and woman as they continued to act aggressively.
During the incident, the officer suffered a scratch to his face.
Defence lawyer Leon Casey said Trebilcock had bipolar disorder and was seeking help.
She now had a new partner, he said.
Her actions had breached two suspended sentences, Magistrate Stephen Guttridge said.
He ordered her to serve seven days behind bars and her matters were committed back to district court for breaching her sentence.
