A beloved stalwart of the Maryborough Speedway is being mourned after her death this week.

Margaret Joan Moller was remembered as a “pillar of our club” and one of the founding members of the Maryborough Sporting Car Club, joining as a member 67 years ago, as tributes poured in for her.

Mrs Moller was a life member of the club and remained an active volunteer up until her death on Tuesday morning, April 1.

She rarely missed a race meeting, according to a post on the Maryborough Speedway Facebook page.

“Margaret was always the first to volunteer and offer help when needed,” the post read.

“She held many positions on the club’s ladies committee and management committee over the years.”

Although Mrs Moller never raced, the mother of former Maryborough Speedway President Wayne Moller, could always be seen in the canteen or in the control tower on race days, the post read.

“She was always there to support her husband Geoff, son and daughter and grandchildren, who all competed.

“One of her proudest moments was watching her granddaughters compete in the Australian Speedway Kart Championships last year and seeing her granddaughter Ashleigh win an Australian championship on her home track.

“Her passing will leave an immense hole in our lives and the lives of all who knew her.

“Details regarding the funeral services will be shared in due course.

“In loving memory of a remarkable woman, we will forever hold her in our hearts.”

Tributes to Margaret were flowing on the post, with many paying their respects to the beloved community stalwart.

“Very, very sad news,” Peter Campbell wrote.

“From all of us at Two Brothers Motorsport we send our condolences to the family and friends and Maryborough racing community who were so well served by this wonderful lady.
