Man trapped after tree falls on excavator at Burrum Heads

A man has been severely injured after a tree fell on an excavator at a private property in Burrum Heads.

A man in his 80s was flown to hospital Friday night after he suffered a serious leg injury while operating an excavator.

The Sunshine Coast RACQ Lifeflight spokesman said the man was working on an excavator in Burrum Heads when a tree branch fell and injured his leg.

He was treated by the RACQ LifeFlight crew and paramedics, before being flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

The accident happened about 3.02pm on a private property.
