Man, 26, charged over crash that killed Chelsea Maddox
A man has been charged with seven offences after the car he was driving hit a power pole, including driving on his L plates without a supervisor, not wearing a seatbelt, and not ensuring his passenger wore a seatbelt.

A man will face court over a Maryborough crash that claimed the life of a teenage girl.
A 27-year-old Burua man has been charged with seven offences, including dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death and leaving the scene without obtaining help, driving an uninsured vehicle, not ensuring passengers wear seatbelts, not having L plates displayed, driving unsupervised as a Learner driver, using an unregistered vehicle with a cancelled number plate, and not wearing a seatbelt.
The crash happened on Albert St in Maryborough about 8.45am on February 19, 2023, when a white Ford Falcon hit a power pole.
Welcome Creek’s Chelsea Maddox, 19, was critically injured in the crash and later died in hospital.
At the time, a close friend of Ms Maddox wrote:
“Thinking of my very dear friends today. Rest In Peace sweet girl. I will always remember you as the caring, energetic, confident girl with a free spirit”.
“You are so loved Chelsea Maddox,” she added.
“My heart goes out to your family, especially to my best friend.
“Forever 19 babe. Heaven certainly gained an angel today. Fly high darling.”
“Life is something that at any second could be just taken away from you before you’ll even realise,” Benjamin Haines wrote.
The man has been remanded in custody and will face Maryborough Magistrates Court on June 13.
