A family is in deep grief after the unexpected death of a toddler on the Fraser Coast.

Arlo Wyse of Hervey Bay was just 21 months old when he died on February 17.

A funeral notice for the toddler said he had been “tragically taken” on that date, while mourners were invited to wear bright, colourful clothing to celebrate Arlo’s “vibrant personality” at his funeral service this month.

The notice said Arlo was the “cherished and adored little boy of Jayden and Amy”.

The funeral will be held on March 7 at 11am at to Orana Chapel at J Kirk & Sons Hervey Bay Crematorium.

A GoFundMe page has also been created to help support the family through the tragedy.

Set up by Marilyn Strawbridge, the fundraiser has so far reached more than $1500.

“Sadly Arlo, my niece’s grandson and my great nephew’s son, unexpectedly passed away early this week,” a post on the page read.

“As you can imagine this has left his family torn apart and heartbroken.

“The reason for this GoFundMe is to provide funds to cover the everyday costs and daily living expenses.

“By helping with these costs, it will allow Jayden, Cassie, Janine and their families to concentrate on grieving together as a family, without having to worry about how the bills will be paid, cleaning the house, cooking meals etc.

“It is a small way those of us who care about them can assist from afar.”

Arlo’s grandmother Cassie McKenzie posted a moving tribute for her grandson on Facebook.

“My greatest honour in life was being your Nannie Mac,” she wrote.

“I cannot believe that I have to say goodbye to you so soon.

“I will never forget the unconditional love you showed me every day, that cheeky smile and brightest eyes, our little hang outs and car trips to work or shopping.

“Fly high little man, and give Poppy Wyse a big cuddle from us, until we meet again.

“I love you so much, our hearts are broken.”
