A man has suffered spinal injuries and had to be cut from a vehicle following a two-car crash in Point Vernon.

Emergency services received a call at 1.19pm Sunday about the incident at the corner of Banksia St and North St.

A Queensland Fire and Rescue spokesman said when crews arrived a man was trapped inside one of the vehicles.

The QFES spokesman said crews were unable to open the door and “cutting equipment” was used to extract a man.

He was freed from the vehicle about 1.40pm, the spokesman said.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said a woman patient suffered head injuries, while the man suffered spinal injuries.

Both were transported to Hervey Bay Hospital in a stable condition.
