A chlorine spill at the Maryborough Aquatic Centre has meant eager early morning swimmers will have to wait for their dip as fire crews work to decontaminate the area.
Fire crews were called to the centre, on the corner of Kent and John streets, at 7.47am, 13 minutes before it opened.
Wearing splash suits, the fire fighters worked to contain the chlorine spill by neutralising and removing the chemical from the area.
No swimmers were on site at the time of the spill.
Paramedics were on standby for the fire crews.
It is unclear whether the pool will open today.
On their Facebook page Maryborough Aquatic Centre posted: “Due to an incident on site, we will not be able to open as scheduled today. We are unsure if we will be open today. Please check back for further updates before attending centre.”
