A woman who has brought her ‘support dog’ to court on two previous occasions had a new companion this time.

The court was aflutter with news of Virginia Joy’s feathered friend.

Her charged of assaults occasioning bodily harm and stealing were mentioned, but she was not required to formally appear as the matter was adjourned.

She had turned up with the bird anyway but let before her name was called.

The 75-year-old has previously spoken to the Chronicle, saying she intends to contest the charges.

On that occasion, she brought her 14-year-old dog, Wilbury, to court for support.

This time, she was gone before the Chronicle had a chance to ask about her change in companion.

She’ll be back in court on October 19.
