16 evacuated from Clubhouse in Hervey Bay after fire

More than a dozen people had to be evacuated after a fire broke in a clothes dryer at a Hervey Bay clubhouse. One person was treated for minor smoke inhalation.

About 16 people were evacuated from the Clubhouse in Hervey Bay after a fire broke out.

The Clubhouse posted on social media that the fire was caused by a clothes dryer in the laundry area. They praised the quick response of firefighters.

Emergency services were called to the fire on Old Maryborough Rd in Pialba around 9pm.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said there were three crews at the scene with fire under control at 9.30pm.

“16 occupants of the building were evacuated safely.”

“There was a fire at one of the sections of the building, spreading to the roots of it.”

QFES crews are trying to ventilate smoke out of the building.

Queensland Ambulance Service reported there was one stable patient assessed for minor smoke inhalation at an appliance fire at the business on the corner of Tooth Street and Old Maryborough Road.
