David Crisafulli has officially been sworn in - and a handwriting expert has given his take on the flourish with which the new Premier signed his oath of office and commission at Government House.

Mr Crisafulli was sworn in as Queensland’s 41st premier by Governor Jeannette Young at Fernberg on Monday.

The Courier-Mail showed Queensland graphologist Craig Peebles a video of Mr Crisafulli signing the official documents as well as a copy of his signature.

Mr Peebles, who has been a graphologist since 2008 and runs a service called The Write Guy, said most interesting were the “very different” styles with which Mr Crisafulli signs his first and last names.

“This indicates the option of differing processes and suggests a good overall balance,” he said.

“With the ‘David’, obviously you can read this name. He is more likely to be honest and an open book, which is interesting for a pollie.

“The capital D is strong and bold … he is confident, possesses pride and a healthy ego.”

Mr Peebles said the way Mr Crisafulli signed ‘David’ indicated he was chatty, a quick thinker and logical.

“But he doesn’t like to be slowed down. Impatient? Perhaps,” he said.

Mr Peebles said Mr Crisafulli’s last name was penned with “strength and importance”.

“This is confirmed with an underline suggesting self-reliance,” he said.

“Where his surname is concerned, there is emotion, indicative in the heavy right slant. Open loops in the upper zone suggest openness to new ideas and procedures. It does not however, mean he will accept anything new. But he will at least listen and decide.”

Mr Peebles said the takeaways from analysing Mr Crisafulli’s signature were that he was logical, self-reliant, emotional and open.

“It’s a good combination of traits for anyone to have on board,” he said.

“They’re traits that will certainly be supportive for a good term as premier. But will he be a good premier? That is the future, and that remains to be seen.”
