A woman has been flown to hospital with serious injuries following a horrific truck and car collision on the Warrego Highway, Macalister late Monday night.

Around 9.50pm on May 8, a truck and vehicle were travelling in opposite directions on the Warrego Highway when they collided head-on.

The driver of the vehicle, a 44-year-old woman, sustained serious injuries and was flown to Princess Alexandra Hospital.

The driver of the truck, a 32-year-old man, was physically unharmed.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said two crews arrived on scene just after 10pm.

“There was a multi-vehicle crash and an entrapment as a result,” he said.

“Crews went into action to remove the rear door of the vehicle and they had to use hydraulic gear to free that person.

“They were extricated just after 11pm and put into the hands of Queensland Ambulance Service, and a care flight was called in. The highway was blocked in both directions.

“As the person was loaded onto aircraft, traffic was being diverted.

“After 1am the road was cleared and LifeFlight left.”

Investigations are continuing, and anyone with dashcam vision is asked to contact police.
