A property that has been in a Western Downs family for 70 years has sensationally sold at auction for $3.25 million, instilling faith in the region’s property market.
The Kantara property situated along the Jimbour Plain in Jimbour expands across 283 fertile hectares of prime agricultural land, and was a rare opportunity for investment into the industry.
Listed by Eastern Rural Dalby property agents Roger Lyne and Andrew Kirtley, six registered bidders piled into BMO Accounting in Dalby to battled it out on July 1 for the prized property northwest of Dalby.
Mr Kirtley said it was a good result for the previous owners, and showed the market value for that type of country in the Western Downs.
“It’s in quality Jimbour plain country, but low interest rates partnered with good commodity prices drove high levels of interest across the country,” Mr Kirtley said.
“We only had to do a four week marketing program on it, and it sold under the hammer straight after that.”
The cultivation property had been used for controlled traffic and zero till farming for nearly 20 years, and had all weather access via Macalister Jandowae Road, and Kents Road.
A quaint three bedroom cottage is among its improvements over the years, partnered with two sheds for farming equipment.
