“She believed (the victim) made comments on TV that made a mockery of the deceased’s family,” Ms Graham said.

Nystrom pleaded guilty to common assault.

Bianca Louise Lucas-Simple

A woman, who already was on probation, has faced court again after she attacked a man with a golf club then kicked his 13-year-old grandson during a shocking assault.

Bianca Louise Lucas-Simple appeared at Dalby District Court on July 20 after she attended a Western Downs home calling for the teen boy to come outside, before launching an attack on his grandfather.

Crown prosecutor Cameron Wilkins said the 24-year-old woman yelled for the boy to come outside on April 13, 2021.

“She walked over to the complainant, had a golf club in her hand, swung and struck him on his arm,” Mr Wilkins said.

She then struck the man again with the golf club this time hitting him “far more seriously” to the eye, which caused a blood vessel to burst as well as cuts to the cornea.

“(Lucas-Simple) returned from her car and kicked (the boy) to the back, which was the common assault charge.”

Defence barrister Douglas Wilson said the woman had since moved towns following the breakdown of a relationship, but in the last few months had “developed optimism” in turning her life around.

Lucas-Simple pleaded guilty to two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, one count of common assault and public nuisance.

She was sentenced to 18 months’ jail with an immediate parole release date.

“The victim spoke to another person and then went to grab her bag to go home. Paul has then come up to her with a piece of paper and it’s escalated again.”

The court was told Cozzi got close to the complainant and their foreheads made contact, with the woman losing balance but not falling down.

“The victim stated Paul said ‘if you punch me, I’ll knock you out’ … he hasn’t directly threatened violence but he would assault her if she assaulted him,” Sergeant Hutchins said.

“There’s a level of intimidation.”

Defence lawyer Brad Skuse said his client accepted he overreacted to an argument in a stressful situation.

Cozzi who pleaded guilty to common assault was fined $300, referred to SPER, and no conviction was recorded.

Malik Neville Woodbridge

A Western Downs teenager filmed himself assaulting another teenager at a shopping centre, while the victim yelled for help, before sending the video of the assault to multiple people over Snapchat.

On February 2, Malik Neville Woodbridge approached a 17-year-old boy who was alone at a shopping centre and had just stepped out on the footpath, when Woodbridge yelled, “why do you always text her c--t?” and “did I tell you to stop, yes or no?”

Police prosecutor Anita Page told Dalby Magistrates Court on July 25 the victim replied, “I don’t” before trying to back away from the 18-year-old and then said he had only messaged the girl asking for a lift.

“The defendant threw a string of punches to the victim’s head,” Ms Page said.

“The victim fell to the ground and kicked out at the defendant forcing him back. When the victim stood up (Woodbridge) approached him again throwing punches.”

Ms Page told the court that the victim covered his head with his arms and yelled for help, which is when Woodbridge walked away.

“The victim’s siblings received a Snapchat of the fight, which was used as evidence,” Ms Page said.

Defence lawyer Michael McElhinney said his client was in a relationship with and had a child with the girl that the victim had allegedly been messaging, and claimed the victim had messaged her so much it was believed by him that he was “stalking” her.

Woodbridge pleaded guilty to assault occasioning bodily harm.
