A serial public nuisance offender who said he keeps fighting people because he’s “big on respect” has been told it’s time he got some for other people.

Kitchener Stephen Reilly, 50 appeared in the Dalby Magistrates Court on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to two counts of public nuisance.

During the first incident on March 7, 2025 at 5pm police received numerous calls of a fight taking place at a park.

At 8.45pm they attended Reilly’s address where he made admissions to screaming vulgarities and punching a man in the head several times during an arranged “consensual” fight.

Several days later on March 12 police were called to a Dalby BWS at 9.48am after reports two men were abusing customers.

The court was told Reilly and another man were loitering outside the store when they saw someone leaving with drinks.

Reilly asked the man for a sip of his drink and when he refused he threatened him calling him a dog c--t, forcing the man to flee back into the store for safety.

Reilly then banged on the glass window of the store beckoning the man to come outside for a fight with the whole incident caught on CCTV footage.

The court was told Reilly believed the man had “looked at him wrong”.

Police prosecutor Chris Hutchins criticised Reilly’s childish behaviour.

“He talks about respect, but it's clearly not something he gives to others,” he said.

“You can’t go around the community fighting and threatening people because you think they looked at you wrong”.

Magistrate Kathleen Payne during sentencing took into account Reilly’s extensive history of public nuisance offences and the impact they had on the community.

“People are scared when they see this kind of conduct,” she told him.

He was sentenced to 12 month’s probation and a conviction was recorded.
