Police have alleged a drunk Dalby man drove his car into a plane at the aerodrome in a bizarre, alcohol-fuelled string of events.
Senior Sergeant Sean Donaghey said the 28-year-old had been drinking at North Dalby Bowls Club before he allegedly drove to the aerodrome and crashed into the aircraft causing at least $20,000 worth of damages on Thursday, October 13.
It is also alleged the man drove his car back to the bowls club before he called police and asked them if they had heard reports of a crash at the aerodrome.
“Five minutes later he called back and admitted he had drunk drove into the plane,” Senior Sergeant Donaghey said.
The man who blew 0.171 when breath tested was alleged to be “too drunk” to interview the night of the crash, and attended Dalby police station the following day where he was interviewed by CIB.
The man was charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle while adversely affected, UIL, wilful damage causing destruction to an aircraft and trespass.
He is expected to appear at Dalby Magistrates Court on December 6.
