Two women who separately assaulted different security guards in shocking attacks have faced court, with one woman spitting on a public safety officer and the other biting a female bouncer on the arm.
A court heard Nikita Ann Roberts was checked into hospital before she spat on a public safety officer during her treatment.
She was also busted attempting to steal medical utensils to feed her drug problem and caught drug driving.
Chinchilla Magistrates Court was told Roberts was administered a sedative at Toowoomba Hospital during treatment for schizophrenia on June 3, 2021 when she started to become aggressive with staff.
Police prosecutor Chris Hutchins said the 27-year-old spat on the safety officer’s pants as he was attempting to restrain her, and the day prior was found with meth and a stolen syringe and tourniquet in her bag at Miles Hospital.
Sergeant Hutchins said the woman, who had five-pages of criminal history, was months later caught stuffing $160 worth of perfumes down her tracksuit pants.
“I think I’ve lost count how many times court granted her probation. It isn’t working,” he said.
Roberts was also caught driving with ice in her system, and found in with a bong, bowl and scissors when police searched her home.
“She’s clearly someone that is struggling with the demon of drug use, especially meth,” Sergeant Hutchins said.
Defence lawyer Brad Skuse said although his client had a long criminal history, none if it was related to violence.
Roberts pleaded guilty to serious assault, stealing, drug driving, possessing dangerous drugs and possessing utensils.
She was sentenced to 15 months’ probation.
In a separate incident, a woman who bit a bouncer in retaliation for getting kicked out of a pub will pay hefty compensation to her victim.
Crystal Rose Turner was told to leave the Club Hotel in Chinchilla on April 8 before being escorted out by a female guard.
Police prosecutor Chris Hutchins said the 20-year-old claimed the security guard “bear hugged” her when she was being evicted from the premises, before sinking her teeth into the other woman’s arm and breaking the skin.
The court was told the victim needed to get her tattoo fixed as a result of the attack.
Defence lawyer Brad Skuse said his client accepted responsibility for the assault but claimed the security guard put her in a headlock beforehand.
Turner pleaded guilty to assault causing bodily harm.
She was sentenced to 40 hours’ community service and ordered to pay $600 compensation.
No conviction was recorded.
