Chinchilla community left shaken after vehicle crime spree

A woman who allegedly drove across the Western Downs deliberately colliding with vehicles and causing traffic chaos and widespread damage has been charged.

Police have charged a 32-year-old Brisbane woman after a bizarre crime spree where she allegedly drove recklessly throughout Chinchilla crashing into vehicles and hurling abuse.

Police alleged all of the incidents occurred on September 10 between approximately 7pm and 9pm.

Chinchilla Police said they received multiple reports from community members that a blue LandCruiser was being driven erratically, trying to intentionally collide with vehicles, causing several traffic crashes and property damage with the driver threatening people and behaving irrationally.

The incidents occurred all across Chinchilla including on Nowland Street, Scouller Street, King Street, Church Street, the Warrego Highway and Gormleys Road, Chinchilla.

On September 11 police from Chinchilla charged a 32-year-old female from Brisbane with the dangerous operation of a motor vehicle while adversely affected and failing to fulfil duties after being involved in traffic crash.

The woman has been released from police custody and is on bail to appear at Pine Rivers Magistrates Court on November 5.

Police said they were unable to comment on the number of cars which have been impacted at this point as reports were still coming in.
