Police are investigating after a break and enter in Dalby early Thursday morning.
At approximately 7.20am unknown offenders took property and vehicle keys from a garden shed on Myall St before leaving in a stolen white Toyota LandCruiser.
Police located the vehicle and some of the stolen property at a Dalby address at about 9.45am, but the offenders are still on the run.
Senior Constable Dan O’Hara previously told the Dalby Herald that residents should correctly store their keys in an effort to hinder the would-be thieves.
“It is important you make sure you put the keys somewhere secure within your house, because people will actually enter the house and steal your key to steal your motor vehicle,” he said.
“A lot of the time they are entering the house and not stealing anything in the house other than the car keys, so people will need to make an effort to hide them somewhere in the house other than hanging them on the wall in the kitchen or in the fruit bowl on the table.
“Keep your keys in a safe spot and definitely don’t leave them in the vehicle.”
Anyone with information or relevant vision is urged to contact police. Investigations are continuing.
More to come.
