STAFF and volunteers at Lifeline Dalby have once again arrived at work to find piles of rubbish and donations stacked outside their donation bins on Tuesday September 17.
The mounds have been an issue for volunteers at the local store in the past and manager Narrelle Monaghon said the majority of it is rubbish that they can't resell.
"We really have to take it to the skip bin,” Miss Monaghon said.
"It just makes so much extra work for the volunteers who do it out of the goodness of their heart.
"It's no consideration for anybody but themselves.”
Miss Monaghon said is was really inappropriate to dump rubbish around their donation bins.
"There are places to dump rubbish.
"And I know people are trying to be to be generous and donate but sometimes it's it's not donating, it's just causing havoc for all of us.”
For people who are wanting to donate, Miss Monaghon has a few tips.
"Any clothing that you're not going to wear yourself that's dirty, stained, torn, anything like that... throw it.
"And the same goes for (other donations).”
A rule of thumb is if you would not want an item in your home because it is broken or damaged, it might be better off in your next dump load than in your donations.
If you are unsure if an item should be donated, Miss Monaghon said people are welcome to bring gear down during the store's opening hours and she can assess it.
" I... have a look and if there's stuff there that I think we can't use, I tell them and most people are very good and they will take it off to the rubbish dump,” she said.
"But the ones that appear here overnight, are obviously doing it for one reason, and that's to save them going to the rubbish dump.”
