HIGHLIGHTING the incredible talent of the town's young artists, the annual Dalby State High School Art Show opens on Friday.

Titled 'A Brush with Youth', doors open from 6.30pm Friday at Gallery 107 for the yearly event, which showcases the artwork of the school's students.

Visual art teacher Sonia Miers said the gallery was filled "top-to-bottom” with an eclectic mix of artwork from roughly 3-400 artists across Years 7-12.

It has taken the school's four art teachers three days to arrange and hang the works.

"It's good to see the kids' faces because having their work hung in a professional gallery doesn't happen to them every day, so that's pretty satisfying for some of them,” Mrs Miers said.

The artworks encompass a variety of mediums, from photography to installation works, printmaking, and everything in between.

Mrs Miers said one of the highlights was school vice captain Danielle Leggett's body of work.

Awards and prizes will be presented on the night, and entertainment and light refreshments will be provided.

Entry is free.
