IF HER ambition to become Queensland's next Premier doesn't work out, a guest spot on the "Not Just For Laughs” rural comedy tour may yet beckon for Queensland opposition leader Deb Frecklington who showed off her comedic talents during a visit to Dalby at the weekend.

The Member for Nanango briefly left behind the storm-ravaged South Burnett on Saturday to honour a pre-standing commitment as guest speaker at the Dalby Beck street Kindergarten Ladies Spring Soiree.

Appearing before a packed house at the Dalby Rugby Union club, The LNP leader had the crowd giggling from the get-go, revealing she had misread the invitation and dragged her husband Jason along to the ladies-only shindig.

The laughs came thick and fast from there as the Western Downs-raised politician rattled off a series of self-deprecating gags on subjects ranging from her love of show society cake bake-off to the joys of being a working mum.

Although politics was strictly off-limits, the impact of life on the hustings on a politician's personal life made solid fodder for giggles.

"It was just fabulous, I had so much fun,” Ms Frecklington said.

"These kindy mums and dads spend so much time trying to raise money, it's really hard, so I was more than happy to support them.”

On Saturday evening the Member for Nanango joined Member for Warrego Ann Leahy to host a 'Politics in The Pub' function with a small group of LNP supporters at Dalby's Windsor Hotel.

Ms Leahy said the visit was an opportunity for Dalby locals to get to know the LNP leader and to discuss everyday issues like the cost of living.

"One of the things that does come up regularly with us is the cost of electricity,” Ms Leahy said.

"We want to do a lot about that from the LNP which is why we want to spilt up the generators and bring competition into areas like Dalby where we can only get a supply from Ergon Energy.”

The key talking point, however, was Friday's decision by Speaker of the House Curtis Pitt to refer Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk to the parliamentary ethics committee over her decision to withdraw staffing resources for the Katter Party.

Queensland's Crime and Misconduct Commission last month made a finding that the premier had breached the law with her actions but referred the matter back to the parliament.

Ms Palaszczuk has denied any wrongdoing.

"Her integrity is in question, her reputation is in tatters, she has a lot of questions to answer,” Ms Frecklington said.

"The Labor speaker of parliament, for him to outline a twelve-page letter with reasons why he is referring the matter to the ethics committee is serious.”

Ms Frecklington rejected any assertion her credibility was also in question over the affair.

Ms Leahy and Ms Frecklington were both initially supportive of calls to strip the Katter Party of resources but were cleared of any wrong-doing by the Crime and Misconduct Commission.
