THE worst of the wild weather has been and gone, but Dalby is not in the clear yet. The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has issued a severe flood warning for the Condamine River, urging residents to stay off the road around the area.

Water levels have risen by about 70cm since 9am today. A BOM spokesperson believes the levels will slowly reduce in the absence of more rain.

"We had some remarkable rainfall that fell near Dalby yesterday,” the spokesperson said. "There are some pretty amazing totals there, in a storm that went through Dalby and sat there for a number of hours.”

"I wouldn't expect any rain to worsen that (the flooding) at all. It'll just flush its way down the Condamine and peter out eventually.”

In the meantime, residents should follow the advice of State Emergency Services, and exercise caution when driving in these areas.
