DALBY State High School was a sea of purple and yellow on Wednesday as students tested out their retail skills at the relay for life market day on Wednesday.

The school has 15 teams nominated in the relay this year with participants from all year levels.

Each team was invited to set up a stall at the market day to aid their fundraising efforts.

Dalby State High School relay for life coordinator Cheryle Williams said the market day was well supported by all students.

"It was a wonderful day, there was a real buzz around the school grounds and the kids got right into it,” she said.

The students weren't the only ones having some fun for a good cause, with teacher James Riley auctioning off the right to shave his beard, and other teachers had students throwing cream pies at them.

The students also split the proceeds of a sausage sizzle, thanks to local businesses getting behind the kids and donating the food.
