Ms Bourne said she was “honoured” to be selected for the role of deputy mayor.

“I am super honoured and excited to help the mayor and support the team, as deputy mayor is it is about helping to support our entire team, so I feel very privileged,” she said.

“It is not about me personally, it is about the goals we have set for our region and our people.

“We’ve got some big advocacy pieces we will be working hard to achieve and progress and at the front of my mind is the Nathan Dam, in our region water is life.”

Ms Bourne said she was looking forward to working with council to help serve the region.

“I wouldn’t have expressed an interest in the role if I wasn’t 100 per cent committed, I am passionate and have always had a background in delivering for the community so that is front and centre,” she said.

“At the end of the day I am here to help our team deliver for the community, and I am committed to making decisions to ensure the team can do the job.”
