Spring has gotten off to a hot start with Dalby’s mercury expected to soar to 32C on Monday, far above the Dalby Airport’s average since 1992 for this time of year.
This comes just days after an uncharacteristically hot air mass for the time of year produced the highest winter temperature ever recorded in Queensland.
In 2023 the temperature on the second day of September only reached 26.9C, with a day surpassing 31C not coming until the 21st of the month when the weather reached 35C.
The average temperature for September last year was 27.5C while the Dalby Airport’s average is 25.6C.
The highest September day on record came in 2013 when temperatures hit a whopping 38.4C while the lowest was in 2006 when it dipped to 12.6C.
The hot weather is expected to cool slightly for the remainder of the week with Tuesday forecast at 27C, Wednesday 24C and Thursday 26C before hovering around 28C to 29C for the remainder of the week.
Elsewhere across the Western Downs Chinchilla, Jandowae, Miles and Jondaryan are all forecast to reach 31C while Tara is expected to reach 30C.
