THE Dalby Crisis Centre has been given a helping hand thanks to the local Lions Club.

Dalby Lions Club past president Roger Henderson said the lions were trying to support local support centres.

"From our golf day we always present some money back into the community so I put that to the Lions committee and they thought that's quite a good idea to support a local committee,” Mr Henderson said.

Family support worker Irene Tanks said the crisis centre services Dalby and surrounds.

The centre offers a large range of services.

"We can case mange families up to three months, information and referrals, help with family crises, every second Monday we have our financial councillor that visits and we're able to do budgeting, domestic violence support,” Ms Tanks said.

"We do NILS loans... school snacks, we've got a homeless hub here with a washing machine, bathroom facilities and kitchen facilities.”

The crisis centre is funded to run the office and page wages, everything else relies on donations from businesses and the community.

"We've got a Facebook page where people can access and see what we're doing and who's involved,” Ms Tanks said.

Current Lions president Julianne Shipway said they were always looking for the most effective way to get money back into the community.

"The most effective way of getting the job done locally,” Mrs Shipway said.

"The locals who support Lions have a high regard of the job that Lions do and that we do responsibly seek out the proper way to get the most value out of every dollar because every dollar is hard to raise.”

Mrs Shipway and Mr Henderson said they hoped to help raise awareness of what the Dalby Crisis Centre does and to help the centre grow.
