DALBY Bridge Club is ending the year strongly in preparation for 2019.

Throughout 2018, one of the club members, Rebecca Knight, worked to become an accredited bridge teacher.

The qualification means Ms Knight is now endorsed as a bridge teacher by the Australian Bridge Federation.

Ms Knight plans to start a beginners' class in the new year.

Club president Diane Wenham acknowledged Ms Knight's commitment, shown in her teaching roles and by keeping abreast of directors' rulings at workshops in Brisbane.

Mrs Wenham said the bridge club hadn't had someone like Ms Knight in the past.

"She's quite good with (new players), she nurtures them for the next few months until they get on their feet,” Mrs Wenham said.

Mrs Wehnam described bridge as a good way to keep your brain active as you got older, but it's not just a game for elderly players.

"They're a very friendly group of men and women, good company when you're older and if you're on your own,” she said.

"It would be better if we could get some younger people started too.”

If anyone is interested in joining a beginners' bridge class in Dalby, contact Ms Knight by calling 0428558515.
