LOCAL man Jack Hornick had a taste of fame after his interactions with a deadly sea snake went viral.

Mr Hornick saw a Courier Mail photo of a snake that had been found on the Gold Coast that looked similar to one he had found, so he contacted thenewspaper to see if the snake he had come across was the same breed.

The paper confirmed it was indeed the same snake.

"A day later I had about six or seven journalists ring me, they wanted to do a big story up for it,” Mr Hornick said.

"It went sort of viral.

"I had all the Win News, Nine News, Seven News, and heaps of radio stations all call wanting to do interviews.

"It's been flat out nearly all day, every day, either someone's calling or messaging me.”

A lot of Mr Hornick's family and friends are excited and shocked by how quickly the video went viral.

Mr Hornick said he didn't plan on any more snake wrangling in the near future and the encounter made him realise to be aware of the animals he saves next time.
