Almost 1500 homes across the Western Downs plunged into darkness over fallen powerline

Close to 1500 homes across the Western Downs lost power in the early hours of the morning. Find out why here.

A broken cross arm on a powerline has been attributed to a massive blackout overnight with more than 1500 Western Downs’ homes losing power.

Tara crews had an early start and have so far restored power to 60 per cent of impacted homes, after the outage was first reported about 2.46am.

Ergon Energy are currently working to restore power to the remaining 643 customers in and around Beelbee, Chinchilla, Condamine, Dalby, Goranba, Hopeland, Kogan, Kumbarilla, Tara, Weranga, and Wieambilla.

Power is expected to be fully back up and running by lunchtime.
