A DALBY man who assaulted and obstructed police officers has been sentenced to community service.
Tyrone Reston appeared in front of the Dalby Magistrates Court on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to four charges including three of assaulting or obstructing a police officer.
The court heard the incident arose from an altercation Reston had with another man in Dalby on February 6.
The court was told the pair were intoxicated and had engaged in a consensual fist-fight on Arthur St.
A resident in a nearby home phoned police.
Police prosecution said when police arrived and defused the fight, Reston began to yell at the informant who was present at the time.
The court heard Reston slipped the grip of one police officer who was trying to arrest him, and then proceeded to kick the officer in the leg.
The court then heard Reston refused to co-operate with police by not getting into the police vehicle, not walking to the watch-house and once inside becoming "disruptive”.
Reston's lawyer told the court his client had reflected on his actions and was embarrassed about the incident.
In sentencing, Magistrate Robbie Davies ordered Reston complete 80 hours of unpaid community service.
