Businesses get ready to battle it out on the green

DALBY'S business community is ready to battle it out against each other in the Dalby Bowls Club's Mercantile Bowls Competition.
The comp starts next Wednesday, and businesses will field teams of four in the friendly challenge.
Organiser Keith Teakle said the challenge had been held for more than 10 years, and had always been a hit with the community.
He said while the challenge was four weeks of fun for all involved, it was also important for the bowls club.
"It's to introduce different people to the game of bowls, get more use out of our facilities and display those facilities to other people,” Mr Teakle said.
He said the competition had always had a healthy competitiveness.
"We've been lucky that one team hasn't dominated it over the years, it's been spread around who wins it,” he said.
Mr Teakle said there was still one team place remaining, and also said spectators were welcome.
