Six clubs and associations throughout the Western Downs region have scored extra funding from the Gambling and Community Benefit Fund, with just under $200,000 being spread through Dalby, Tara and Glenmorgan.

Tara Bowls Club was one of the community groups granted additional funding, with treasurer Matthew Praine saying they would be putting the money to good use by giving the clubhouse a new coat of paint, and replace expired guttering.

“Being a community-based club, people use our facilities to host events or fundraisers or play barefoot bowls,” he said.

“It’ll be good to have a nice well-kept facility, and boost patronage.”

Member for Warrego Ann Leahy made the announcement on Monday that $172,511 was granted from the funds.

“Dalby Girl Guides with a grant of $24,000 will be able to paint the exterior of the hut.

“The Dalby PCYC will purchase audio visual equipment with a grant of $34,694.

“The Tara RSL Sub Branch will construct a pergola with a grant of $31,227.”
