Play Early Learning Centre owner Sarah Courtney is in the running for multiple awards at the AusMumpreneur Awards 2023 which will be held in Sydney later this month and recognises mothers across the country in business.

Despite the early learning centre being officially open for only six months, the business has already made a splash in the industry by achieving major goals along with being nominated for the coveted awards.

“It made me feel great,” Mrs Courtney said.

“This is such a new business, I wasn’t expecting anything like that. Things have been really good we’ve really kicked goals.

“We had set a goal to reach 90 per cent capacity by the end of the year but we reached 95 per cent in May so we had only been open for four months and already exceeded our goal which was great.”

While the mother-of-three has had her hands full she wants people to know that she is no “super mum”.

“I couldn’t have done it without my husband Lloyd and that’s the big thing,” she said.

“I’m so thankful that I have my husband to fall back on because he cooks dinner, he bakes, he takes care of us so I couldn’t have done that without him.

“People think I’m a super mum but it’s not just me, you’re only as good as the person supporting you.”

Mrs Courtney has been nominated for three categories including, Business, Local Community and Education under the ‘People’s Choice’ awards which allows the public to vote for their favourite business owner.

“It means you will always be productive if you’re learning from your mistakes so don’t put it off because it takes time.”

Multiple parents helped nominate the business owner, one of which was Hayley Ackery who said in her nomination, “(Sarah) has one of the best childcare centres we have had the pleasure of sending our child to, her interactions are pure and heartfelt. She is a true mumpreneur.”
