THURSDAY 6.10PM: THE Dalby boy hit by a van on Sunday evening has died in hospital on Thursday.

Shykarn, 4, had been on life support in Lady Cilento Children's Hospital since being airlifted to Brisbane late Sunday night.   

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help his family.

The page was created by Mikaa Ives who wrote, "My 4 year old cousin Shykarn was hit by a car in Dalby... and sadly didn't make it."   

"My heart breaks for my Uncle and Aunty. They have another 6 children to care for as well.   

"We are all beyond devastated and heart broken."  

She is hoping to raise $5000 for the family with more than $1400 donated already.  

EARLIER: A FOUR-YEAR-OLD Dalby boy remains in a critical condition in Brisbane, a hospital spokesman has said. 

The Dalby boy has been at the Lady Cilento Children's Hospital since Sunday night, after being airlifted from Dalby following an accident. 

Police told media on Monday it is believed he stepped out to on-coming traffic on Drayton St, Dalby, at roughly 6.50pm. 

A spokesman at the Lady Cilento Children's Hospital said the Dalby boy had been in a critical condition in the intensive care unit all day. 

The spokesman confirmed he was on a life-support system. 

EARLIER: A DALBY four-year-old who was struck by a van on Drayton St on Sunday evening, remains in a critical condition in hospital. 

A spokesman for the Lady Cilento Children's Hospital in Brisbane confirmed there has been no change overnight to the boy's condition.  

Initial investigations by police indicate the young boy was on foot when he stepped onto Drayton St at roughly 6.50pm. 

Police say it appears the boy struck the side of the van and sustained serious head injuries. 

The driver of the van was allegedly travelling up to 20km/h slower than the speed limit due to ongoing roadworks. 

Senior Sergeant of Dalby Police Terry McCullough told media yesterday the driver appeared to have done nothing wrong, and a search of the vehicle showed no defects. 

Police are continuing to talk to witnesses. 

EARLIER: THERE has been no changed to the condition of a Dalby boy, currently in the Lady Cilento Hospital in Brisbane.

The four-year-old is in a critical condition in the intensive care unit according to a hospital spokesman, after being hit by a van on Drayton St yesterday at approximately 6.50pm. 

Dalby Police Senior Sergeant Terry McCullough told media today the driver of the vehicle was travelling around 20km/h under the speed limit. 

He said police were continuing to talk to witnesses. 

UPDATE 1.30PM: THE DRIVER of the vehicle which struck a young boy last night in Dalby was travelling well under the speed limit, according to police. 

Senior Sergeant Terry McCullough spoke to media this afternoon, and said the young male was still in hospital in a critical condition. 

Snr Sgt McCullough said police are still talking to witnesses but the initial part of the investigation had been completed. 

He said the driver was probably travelling at about 40km/h.

The speed limit where the accident took place is 60km/h.

"You've got to be careful when crossing a busy road, it is very busy, there is a lot of trucks and heavy vehicles," Snr Sgt McCullough said. 

"He is in a critical condition in hospital and our hopes and prayers are with the family that he can recover from this."

EARLIER: A YOUNG boy is still fighting for his life in the Lady Cilento Hospital in Brisbane.

A hospital spokesman said the boy was still in a critical condition and was in the intensive care unit.

EARLIER: A YOUNG boy is fighting for his life after being struck by a van in Dalby.

Emergency services were called to the incident at the intersection of Drayton and Arthur Streets just before 7pm.

A Police spokeswoman said the boy, 4, was with family at the time.

"Preliminary investigations indicate at around 6:50pm a male driver of a Van was travelling eastbound along Drayton Street when he collided with a 4-year-old boy who had ran out on to the road,'' police said in a statement.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesman said the boy had suffered "significant head injuries".

He was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to Dalby Hospital in a critical condition.

He was later airlifted to Lady Cilento Children's Hospital.

EARLIER:The young boy struck by a vehicle on Drayton St this evening is expected to be flown to Brisbane tonight.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesman said the boy was taken to Dalby hospital with head injuries and was in a critical condition.

The spokesman said the boy would be flown to the Lady Cilento Children's Hospital. 

EARLIER: A four-year-old boy on a bike has been taken to hospital after being struck by a vehicle.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said the incident occurred near Drayton and Arthur Sts Dalby just before 7pm.

He was taken to hospital but the state of his injuries was unknown.

A Queensland Police spokeswoman said the incident occurred across from a service station and there was a road closure in place on the Warrego Highway (Drayton St) between Condamine and Cunningham Sts.

She said it was likely the Forensic Crash Unit would investigate.
