A RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has airlifted a man to hospital, after he was reportedly trapped under his crashed motorcycle for several hours on the Western Downs last night.

It's believed he was wearing an open-faced helmet when he lost control and crashed the bike into shrubs.

He told rescuers he became stuck in the bushes, pinned down by his motorcycle and couldn't reach his mobile phone.

After several hours, the man who is aged in his fifties, was finally able to reach the phone and ring 000 for help.

Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics treated him at the Montrose Road scene and transported him to Tara Sports Field, where he was met by the rescue helicopter and aeromedical crew, just after 6:30pm.

RACQ LifeFlight Rescue airlifted the man, who was suffering facial and back injuries, to Toowoomba Hospital.
