Renowned for having ‘real Aussie’ homemade burgers with fresh ingredients, Shapry’s has been crowned Chinchilla’s top burger destination by Chinchilla News readers.

On the Western Downs along the Warrego Highway, the locally run cafe has long been the talk of the district as it’s home to the biggest burger of the region - and an owner with a heart of gold.

Owner of Sharpy’s cafe, Charlene Rogers, said she often heard stories from the road about her cafe being the best place the stop and grab an authentic Aussie burger.

“We’ve also had a lot of support from truckies, we are growing so fast… the word is getting around,” she said.

“We make sure our ingredients are fresh, all our burgers are homemade, from the patties to the chicken schnitzels.

“There’s also big talk around our ‘Oversize Burger’… when we came up with the prototype my husband and four kids at it for dinner – there’s only been a handful of people who have been able to finish it - the time to beat is 13 minutes.”

Ms Rogers has always gone above and beyond for her customers near and far – when COVID-19 stuck regional Queensland she fought to stay open to provide a vital lifeline for truck drivers.

When restrictions started in March 2020, roadside eateries, truck lounges and rest stops closed across Australia leaving drivers with nowhere to eat, rest or go to the bathroom.

But Ms Rogers fought to have Queensland Government legislation changed so they could provide a vital service.

If you’re looking for the right burger to hit the spot, Ms Rogers said the most popular burger by far was the ‘Bogan Burger’.

Ms Rogers said she was grateful for the communities support, and was pleasantly surprised to win Chinchilla’s best burger location.

“I’d like to thank the community for all their support, especially during COVID-19, we wouldn’t be running today if it wasn’t for them,” she said.
