The charges against a 21-year-old man accused of a violent assault at a Chinchilla home will be upgraded after his alleged victim died in hospital.
Dalby detectives have upgraded the charges against Chinchilla man Jye Patrick Hocken-Thiedeke to unlawful striking causing death after a 45-year-old who was allegedly hit during an attack on November 21, 2023 died from his injuries.
Police allege the pair, who were known to each other, were involved in an altercation at a Wambo St property about 9pm, when the 45-year-old Chinchilla man was struck in the head by Mr Hocken-Thiedeke.
He was flown to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition but did not recover and died on Monday, November 27.
Mr Hocken-Thiedeke first appeared in Dalby Magistrates Court on November 22 where he made no application for bail.
He was remanded in custody, with his matters adjourned to January 23.
The 21-year-old will next appear in Dalby Magistrates Court on that date where the charges will be formally upgraded.
