Miles Horse and Pony Club host brand new riding event.

LITTLE Alison Stait and her multicoloured pony Salty were a wonderful sight to behold at the first Miles gymkhana in almost a decade.

With over 42 riders from across the region including Taroom, Wandoan, Roma and Jandowae the event was well attended and heavily supported by the community.

"With our club recently growing to welcome more and more riders, we thought "why not?” let's put on our very own gymkhana,” Miles instructor Kim Hill said.

"We've received so much support from our pony club families as well as the wider Miles community,” she said.

"Sunday's event wouldn't have been possible without everyone's generous time and energy.

"The other clubs around the region have been wonderful with getting on board and sending riders here for our very first gymkhana in about 9 years,

"It is something we will be aiming to organise annually from now on as it's a great opportunity for our newer riders to get a taste of the gymkhana experience in a friendly atmosphere.”

Ms Hill said she particularly wished to thanks the local sponsors for their generous contributions.

"We are very grateful to Road Warriors, Miles 4X4, Kody's Mechanical, Fair Dinkum Fodder and Melander Blondes for their donations towards our raffle as well as Cliffy Orchard for stepping up as the first aid officer and our beloved club life member, Charlie Johnson for his continued support of the Miles Horse and Pony Club.
