Regional home puts on impressive Christmas light show

THIS year's Chinchilla Christmas Lights Competition was a close race with the winner nabbing first place by a meagre half a point.

With 20 entries 2019 was definitely one of the biggest competitions in recent years, with every single entry providing something unique to light enthusiasts to enjoy.

First place for best residence went to the McIver family on 51 Skewis Street with an overall score of 113 out of 120,

With long time winners, Brian and Yvonne Wolski from 159 Chinchilla Wondai Road coming in a close second place sitting on 112.5 points.

Not far behind the top runners was Tom and Paige Arnell from 12 Pilkington street with a score of 110.
Best business was yet again taken out by Ainsworth Motors, but this year Wood Ag, Pro Crew and RiE all threw their hats in the ring with Chinchilla St neighbours, Wood Ag giving Ainsworth a good run for the money coming in second with a wonderful light up tractor piece.

The Wood Ag team said they weren't going to let their second place status deter them from running again with the ultimate goal of taking over first place from the long-time victors, Ainsworth Motors.

Gerrard Bellgrove from Ainsworth Motors was not perturbed in the slightest.

"Game on," he said.

"It will be good to have some competition and maybe now more businesses will get involved and in a couple years we can deck the entire highway out in lights."

This year's judging took into consideration three categories; wow factor, Christmas theme, and the time and effort it took.

There were a few homes judges wished to give special mentions to this year.

Firstly to Kit and Christi McInnes at 14 Russell St for bringing a very funky light up festive rave to the streets of Chinchilla.
At first glance, this beautiful Queenslander's lights may look like they are malfunctioning but if you tune into the right FM radio station, the entire display is synchronised to some very catchy Christmas music.

Take a look at the video above for a little snippet of the impressive light and sound display.

And secondly to Julie-Anne Walker and Reiner Vresk who have created a wonderful little pocket of Christmas magic on their corner at 47 King St.
You need to get out of the car to fully appreciate all the little extra work they've put in so don't be shy, there's even a special bearded chap waiting to have his photo taken!
