THIS weekend's weather made for the perfect beach volleyball tournament, but who would have thought to have one in the middle of the Western Downs?

Dulacca Sports Club held their annual Bush Beach Volleyball tournament on Saturday to the delight of many enthusiastic participants from around the region.

The eight teams were battling it out for a sweet Summer prize pack, complete with a large esky, generously donated by Vanderfield and Landmark.

Prizes were being awarded for best playing team as well as best dressed with some teams getting well and truly in the fancy-dress spirit.

"It's something to bring back to the bush,” co-organiser Matt Millar said.

"And it's good to have a sport event the kids and partners can join in and enjoy, it's great to have the whole family involved.”

The overall winners of the day were cheeky newcomers The Sandy Clams and The Moose Knuckles who ended up beating lanky local team, Sexy Beaches in the final round of the day.

The Bogandilla Bogans and Bimbos were rightfully awarded the best dressed team of the day for some fine fancy dress coordination.

Dulacca Sporting Club organise a number of family friendly sporting events throughout the year, with their next big cricket event taking place on ANZAC Day.

This year's match will be played on the club's brand new synthetic pitch, recently purchased with grant money supplied through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.
