THE Chinchilla Museum might just have the best job in Australia up for grabs.

They are currently seeking a new live in caretaker and it wouldn't be overselling it to say the position comes with some serious perks.

Museum president Cath Brandon said the role would be best suited to an able bodied retiree or retired couple who enjoy meeting new people and would revel in putting in several hours of yard maintenance each week.

"Our current caretaker has been doing the job for about four years in total but is ready to move on so the role has come up for grabs,” she said.

Whilst the position is not paid, it does come with free accommodation and electricity inside the beautiful museum. Better yet, the digs come with premium views of the brand new $6million Botanic Parklands sitting right on the museum's doorstep.

Now that's prime real estate!

Ms Brandon said the museum has already received 20 applications for the role, with some hopeful applicants coming from as far as South Australia.

"We're looking for someone with people skills, a good communicator who can take phone bookings and keep the facility looking neat and tidy,” she said.

If you think you're cut out for the role don't hesitate to contact the museum via phoning 0448 766 144 or emailing chinchillamuseum@bigpond.com.
