We asked for Chinchilla's cutest dogs and you delivered as dog owners from across the region nominating their best friend to be in the running for the title.

From puppies to senior dogs and of all breeds and varieties, this year’s entrants in our cutest dog competition was hard to split.

Now we can reveal the top dogs who took out our poll.

The winner of this year’s Chinchilla cutest dog goes to 21-month-old cavoodle Dusty.

Owner Cory Cook thanked everyone for their votes and said it felt “amazing” to be the owner of Chinchilla’s cutest dog.

“Previously I had a sausage dog but he was stolen and after five years I was ready for another dog,” he said.

“I always wanted a dog that didn’t drop hair so I picked cavoodle for the breed and named him Dusty, we loved him so much that we went back and got his brother Teddy the next day.

“I always love watching Dusty play, sleep, eat and live his best life.

“He just fits in so well with my family which makes it super special when they are like that.”

Coming a close second was one-year-old staffy terrier cross jack russell Franky. Owner Jodie Lange described Franky as “cute and mischievous” and said it was a privilege to be her owner.

“She has three big dog siblings, she is the only indoor dog, she was supposed to go to a friend but when I picked her up she was just the cutest little baby and the friend ended up with her brothers,” she said.

“Franky has so much character and is the funniest little dog. She's a big dog stuck in little dog body, she’s staunch and acts like a guard dog until guests get to the door where she greets them with a toy to throw.

“Sometimes she thinks she is a sheep dog and spends her day protecting the sheep.”

Taking out the bronze was 13 month old Blue Staffy Tyson. Named after the fearsome Mike Tyson, the loveable pup is much gentler and loves a cuddle.

“My favourite memory of Tyson was when we named him – at four weeks he decided to take on my son’s dog, a maremma/rottweiler cross. He came running towards him biting his legs and growling at him, so, we named him after Mike Tyson,” owner Ruth Lindsay said.

“The thing he loves to do the most is to destroy everything. No toy is safe. But he loves to annoy his mother as well, he has chewed every collar off her neck and takes her toys off her and chews them up.

“There is one thing he loves as much as destroying and that is cuddling. Tyson is very loving and snuggles in closely to us wherever we are. In the morning, he must get in as many cuddles as he can before the day starts.

“He enjoys going to visit the local aged care facility where he has many adoring fans. Even at three months he showed he could not be rough with the elderly. Tyson seems to be able to pick when someone is upset, as he will come and sit close beside you or crawl into your lap.

“Knowing that others think he is cute, is certainly heartwarming. However, he will always be special to us.”
