"Chinchilla Police would like to thank the members of the public in the Wood Street and Covington Street area who assisted police in the apprehension of a wanted person today," the post read.

A spokeswoman from the Queensland Police Service told News Corp the 18-year-old man is currently in custody has been refused bail.

"He is assisting police with inquiries and is awaiting his charges which will be signed off on in the morning," she said.

"He will face Dalby Magistrates court tomorrow."
