AN OUT of control grassfire burnt five to 10 acres of land at a property on Chinchilla Tara Rd, near Upper Humbug Rd, Tara.

The cause of the fire which decimated a significant portion of land is still unknown.

Emergency services rushed to the blaze, after receiving reports of an out of control fire at 6.30pm, August 29.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokeswoman said at this point in time the grassfire hasn't been deemed suspicious, nor are investigations underway.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said at this point in time the cause of the fire isn't under investigation by police.

"We will be guided by QFRS if an investigation is warranted, although there is no damage to property except the grass," he said.

When asked if the owner of the property was home at the time of the fire, the QPS spokesman said he has "no idea if anyone lived in the grass".

The QFES spokeswoman said one crew arrived at the property at 7pm to get the blaze under control.

"The fire has burnt two areas - five to 10 acres have been burnt," she said.

"Some timber on the property is still smouldering, which has been left in the hands of the caretaker of the property."

"It's not known how the fire was started… there was no fire permanent."

The spokeswoman said QFES had the fire under control and left the scene at 8.03pm.
