IT WAS the perfect excuse for a dip in the pool over the weekend with Augathella experiencing highs well and truly into the 40s, but Cunnamulla’s swimmers weren’t there to splash around.

With eight swimmers recording new personal best times and two new pool records set at the Augathella Swimming Carnival over the weekend, it was a particularly fruitful day for the Amateur Swimming Club.

Secretary, Tina Jackson said the club was stoked with all of their swimmer’s efforts.

“We had six-year-old Dallas Ramsay smash 15 seconds off of his PB in the 15 metre butterfly and Brooke Roberts managed to shave an incredible 26 seconds from her best time in nine years 50 metre breaststroke.

“Penny Schmidt broke the pool record for the six years 15 metre butterfly and breaststroke and Charlotte Ramsay broke the pool record in the nine years 50 metre butterfly and backstroke, so they had a stellar carnival.

“Ruby Schmidt, Jesse Fett, Caileb Thorpe, Kellie Brain and Chloe Fett also managed to improve significantly on their previous personal best times so it was a really exciting carnival for the whole squad.”

Ms Jackson said the club was very proud of all 57 of their swimmers for working hard so far this swim season.
