Drug and alcohol response workshops headed west

Classes aimed at community workers will teach first aid specific to the effects of misusing alcohol and drugs.

First aid workshops teaching participants how to respond to drug and alcohol misuse will be run in Charleville and Cunnamulla later this month.

Developed by specialist drug and alcohol service Lyndon - Lives Lived Well, the courses are primarily aimed at those in the community sector.

However, anyone with an interest is welcome to participate.

Michael Reddan, Community Prevention Officer in the South West Hospital and Health Service, said the free training is essential for community sector workers.

"The training will deliver up to date information to participants about drug and alcohol misuse.

"It will introduce participants to substances and their effects, detail how to respond to drug and alcohol issues appropriately, and educate participants in the various treatment options available."
