Woman dies in motorcycle crash along Warrego Hwy

A WOMAN is dead and a man is in a serious condition after a motorbike accident involving a marked police vehicle on the Warrego Hwy near Wallumbilla.

POLICE are investigating a fatal traffic crash on the Warrego Highway near Wallumbilla this afternoon, involving a marked police vehicle and a motorcycle.

Around 12.20pm the motorcycle was behind the police car and travelling in the same direction when the rider lost control of the motorcycle, causing the male rider and a female pillion passenger to fall from the vehicle.

The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene while the male rider was transported to Toowoomba Hospital in a serious condition.

The driver of the police vehicle was uninjured.

Investigators from the Forensic Crash Unit and Ethical Standards Command will travel from Brisbane this afternoon to commence investigations into the incident.
