Tradie couple launches their mobile business, chasing their dream to tour Australia

Passionate couple service Central Queensland’s regional communities after turning their travel dreams into a reality.

Myles Bradley and Sarah Bradford are known as “tradie nomads” after starting their business Outback Tradie, which has allowed them to pursue their dreams of travelling Australia while working.

A New South Wales couple is travelling Queensland as tradie nomads after following their dreams and starting a new business amid the pandemic.

Sarah Bradford and Myles Bradley sold their original business before starting Outback Tradie, a mobile refrigeration business, during the peak of coronavirus in 2020.

“It was around Easter of last year that we had extensive plans to travel overseas, but instead found ourselves on lockdown amid Queensland’s tightest restrictions,” Ms Bradford said.

“Like everyone else, we were housebound and confined to one place, which permitted us the stir-crazy spare time to spark the idea of taking our venture mobile.”

Currently based in the Central Highlands, the couple is committed to servicing regional communities across Australia.

“We love being tradies, and we love to travel, so we wanted to unify these passions with a purpose,” Ms Bradford said.

“That purpose has evolved into our mission to provide services to remote communities.

“Regional areas do not have the same accessibility to trade based services as more metropolitan areas, so being mobile allows us to help those residing in remote communities far sooner than are normally possible.”

Outback Tradie has already reached local towns such as Emerald, Alpha, Clermont, Blackwater, Springsure, and Rolleston.

“We have found comfort in the Central Highlands and it has been immensely rewarding to service the regional communities within the vicinity,” Ms Bradford said.

The couple are “really fulfilled” in the work they’re doing by travelling to various regional communities, which has also given them the opportunity to meet a range of trade based businesses.

“We even foster a Facebook community of Mobile Tradies, so that we can meet and collaborate with other tradies while on the road,” Ms Bradford said.

Having been in Queensland since launch, the tradie couple is looking forward to taking the venture interstate as they cross into the Northern Territory.

Ms Bradford said their travels wouldn’t have been possible without Fergus, a digital cloud-based software.

“Fergus permits us to be location independent so that we can work out of our caravan from anywhere in Australia,” she said.
