IF RESIDENTS would like to add some joy to deployed personnel this Christmas, you have until November 30 to show your appreciation by sending care parcels.

The Department of Defence said all care packages must be addressed in the the following (non-gender specific) way:

An Australian Defence Member, AFPO 60, Australian Defence Force NSW 2890.

Parcels weighing no more than 2kg must meet the limitations set out by the ADF.

An Australia Post Bx2 box is the maximum permissible size of 2kg weight.

Articles must be packed in durable packaging, which is suitably secured, in order to withstand a large volume of weight and handling.

Items for inclusion are toiletries such as deodorant, shaving cream, talcum powder, disposable razors, shower gel and lip balm. Only non-aerosol containers accepted.

Food includes instant noodles, biscuits, lollies, small tinned consumables and non perishable food.

Other ideas are magazines, puzzles books, DVDs, socks and letters of support.

Self addressed envelopes - this way soldiers can thank you for the donation.

The Department of Defence requested for senders not to include alcoholic beverages, pornographic materials, pork products, cigarettes or chocolates, if sending to warm climates.

Working dogs cannot receive packages and nothing sent for them will be delivered.
